"To me, Am Fasgadh is a safe place where I feel supported and understood."
Our service has prevented at least 9 hospital admissions this year, we have also supported 3 members who have been in hospital for some time, keeping that link with the community and supporting their mental health.
We helped our members attend more than 112 GP and Clinic appointments for both mental and physical health. Some of these appointments have been in Raigmore Hospital in Inverness and the Belford Hospital in Fort William.
Food continues to be a very important part of the service we provide. We have served nearly 5800 meals this year equating to an average of 16 hot meals a day 7 days a week 365 days a year of which over 817 were delivered to members who couldn’t make it out the drop-in for one reason or another.
Members were supported with 77 benefits and 1456 everyday things like shopping or dealing with mail etc.
An Drochaid drop-in and our South Skye and Lochalsh Service
Our South Skye and Lochalsh Service (SSL) meets in the Lighthouse in Kyle where we have had 176 attendees over the year, an average of just over 3 members per session. As we now have our own minibus we can pick up the SSL members every week and it’s more cost effective too. We have had 150 members use the bus to Portree on a Wednesday which is an average of just over 4 per week. Our drop-in numbers were down slightly but our minibus to Portree numbers were higher bringing our overall interactions up on the year.
Members have enjoyed a number of trips throughout 2024-25 both on and off the island. Off island trips included Inverness for an overnight stay and Fort William. Members were surveyed after each trip and they were unanimous in their opinion that they had really enjoyed them and wanted more of them as it made them feel alive and “normal”.
